Introduction
Our CEO had a wonderful opportunity to sit down with Jussi Luhtasela, CEO of Recright, to talk about OKRs, skills, and people development.
The Story of Recright
Recright is a 10-year-old SaaS company, which started out from Barona and Reactor co-creating the first video-recruiting platform. Recright has been operating under the current brand and platform since the end of 2016.
Jussi joined the company 3 years ago.
Recright is designed to help candidates and companies showcase themselves to each other via pre-recorded video interviews without having to meet them face-to-face, saving both parties time and money.
They’re located in Helsinki, Finland with 20+ employees working in hybrid mode and 300+ customers in mainly Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.
What were the challenges Recright faced before you didbusiness with Talbit?
Recright has used the OKR framework to set, communicate and implement its strategic objectives for the past two and a half years. They were following the progress in a simple Confluence table but soon came to realize better visibility of the OKRs, the alignment between company and team OKRs, and the progress throughout the quarter was needed.
Simultaneously, they started realizing a stronger need to
- visualize their people’s skills to build better collaboration,
- offer career and growth opportunities to keep their people skilled and retained and
- support them with a more systematic 1:1 process.
Why Recright Chose Talbit
Talbit was first introduced to Jussi and Recright through an Aalto University thesis work student. Prior to that, the need had already risen and Jussi had done some research on OKR tools.
Once he heard about a domestic tool, he got excited. Jussi is very passionate about supporting domestic business development.
Talbit’s way of managing and visualizing the OKRs met Recright’s requirements and wishes with its visual and top notch alignment between company and team OKRs.
On top of that, Talbit is providing visibility to Recright’s current skills, untapped potential, and future skills, facilitating regular and systematic 1:1 -meetings, and supporting people in their career development.
How Recright is Using Talbit
Talbit’s three modules: skill visualization, OKRs, and people development are in active use at Recright. Using the organization-specific job profiles and skillsets, Recright has a visual view of their people’s core skills, skillgaps, and skills they want to work with.
Talbit’s visual and cascading OKR -model helped Recright transform their systematic way of setting, communicating, and leading the OKRs from a simple table to one that visualized all in one view.
The agile and goal-oriented growth process supports both team leads and members in closing skill gaps and driving strategic and personal development. Focus is kept with regular and effective 1:1s.
To sum it up:
“Talbit did what we were looking for and some more.”
The Results
Talbit is a combination of a tool and leadership. It provides a clear view of people’s current skills, skills they’d like to learn, and how it all connects to the company’s objectives.
The comprehensive skill visualization helped Recright tap into hidden potential and contributed to Recright’s resourcing activities. With the data, they were able to understand that some of the work done by external people, was something people wanted to do internally.
This type of information is helping them make better and more people-centric resourcing decisions.
Jussi has realized that with a systematic and goal-oriented process, people can build skills and talent efficiently and relatively quickly. It is also helping the leadership team understand better, what motivates their people now and in the future.
Conclusion
With Talbit, Recright can lead its strategy moreeffectively and keep its people skilled, focused, and growing.
